The Club facilities comprise our own airfield (we have total control over operations), two hangars and a Club House. The Club House has full toilet, shower and cooking facilities so overnight stays are comfortable for anyone having to travel distances to the field.
There is provision for caravans to be parked at the field and one van is available for casual camping. Tents are an option if on a budget.
The Club also has it's own swimming pool, well actually it's a small muddy dam, but if you don't mind sharing with the sheep you are welcome to have a dip.

All training is undertaken by fully qualified instructors who provide the instruction at no cost to the student, other than the standard club rate for aircraft hire.
Enquiries are welcome from anybody who is interested in learning to fly. Gliding training can provide a sound basis for later power flying training and can be used to offset some of the flying time required for a private pilot license.
Normal training is based on winch launching which has cost advantages over aero-towing, particularly for training. Aero-tow training is undertaken when a tug is available from a visiting club.

The Bendigo Gliding Club was established in November 1979 with an original membership of 7. Of the original 7 members, 4 are still with the Club. The Club's first aircraft was a short-wing Kookaburra (VH-GZA) which was purchased for $4,500.
The Club operated initially with a winch constructed by its members and also for a time using a winch borrowed from a Grampians Soaring Club member. In July 1983 the current winch, designed and constructed by Club members was commissioned, since then the truck unit has been replaced.

The Club initially operated from a private airfield at Woodvale and in March 1981 completed a hangar which was extended on two later occasions to accomodate more aircraft.
In 1982 the Club purchased an Astir CS (VH-WUJ) and in 1984 the Kookaburra was replaced with a Ka7 (VH-GNX) which is still in use with the Club. The Club purchased a Super Arrow (VH-GYS) from The Gliding Club of Victoria in 1988.
VH-WUJ was destroyed along with a number of other aircraft in February 1993 when a mini cyclone hit the Grampians Soaring Clubs field at Ararat. The Club subsequently purchased an Astir 77 (VH-KYQ) which was also lost in an accident in 2004. This has since been replaced by both a Swidnik PW-6 and an SZD-51 Junior. In 1991 the Club moved to its own airfield on the current site at Raywood where the Club has constructed two large hangars and a comfortable clubhouse.
From the original 7 members the Club grew steadily and reached a peak of 43 members in 1988-1989, it currently has around 40 members (2006). A very active club, the members can be fgound at the field most weekends unless they are visiting other soaring sites.

In July 1983 the current winch, designed and constructed by Club members was commissioned.
The Club initially operated from a private airfield at Woodvale and in March 1981 completed a hangar which was extended on two later occassions to accomodate more aircraft.
The Club subsequently purchased an Astir 77 (VH-KYQ) which is still in use with the Club. In 1991 the Club moved to its own airfield at the current site at Raywood. Since then the Club has constructed two large hangars and clubrooms.
From the original 7 members the Club grew steadily and reached a peak of 43 members in 1988-1989 and currently has around 40 members.
