It's On Again

Melbourne Cup Weekend Coaching Camp 2015

October 31 to November 3, 2015

The Bendigo Gliding Club is again hosting the annual VSA/BGC Melbourne Cup Weekend Coaching Camp at its Raywood Airfield.

Raywood is one of Victoria's best cross country gliding sites. The recommended Navigation Chart for flying from Raywood is the new Melbourne/Deniliquin VNC, which is available from pilot shops or from https://www.airservicesaustralia.com/store.

The coaching aspects of the camp will focus on early cross country pilots and be overseen by the VSA Coaches, ably assisted by a number of very experienced cross country pilots.

The weekend will involve daily lectures, briefings and task setting aimed at developing cross country flying skills.

All pilots are welcome and all levels of experience can be catered for.

Activity will be from Saturday October 31 to Tuesday November 3. Depending on the level of interest and the weather, launches will continue to be available for the remainder of the week and into the following weekend.

Launching will be by aerotow. Some limited winch launching may be available depending on demand. There will be a movement charge of $10/day/visiting aircraft as a contribution to the continued development and maintenance of the field and facilities. Previous contributions of this nature will again be evident this year in the improved facilities.

All participating pilots will be required to demonstrate current GFA & Club membership and all aircraft are required to have a current Maintenance Release. Failure to have the required paperwork will result in launching being refused.

Accommodation Options

Camping is available at the field (A charge of $7/person/day applies to cover gas, electricity, water etc)

Camping at The Raywood Recreation Reserve Hall is available.

The normal range of accommodation options are available in Bendigo which is about 15 minutes away. For accomodation options and activities for non-gliding family members have a look at Bendigo Tourism.

Catering

Catered breakfast, cereal or cooked, salad roll lunches and cooked evening meals will be available from Saturday lunch time through to Tuesday lunch time and Wednesday with sufficient demand. All at reasonable prices. There will be a sausage sizzle on Friday night for those who arrive early.
